SALARY RANGE: Hiring Range: $19.69-$21.29 Per Hour

Summary

Rural Resources Community Action is looking for an Assistant Teacher for our Smart Start Learning Center in Colville, WA. This position is full-time (40 hours per week) with benefits, working with Toddler, Preschool, & School-Aged children. The learning center operates 6:45am-5:30pm and individual shift times may vary. An Assistant Teacher will assist the Lead Teacher in planning, organizing, and conducting activities in a Head Start classroom to provide a quality preschool experience for children. This position will assist with the preparation of the classroom, including materials and planned activities.  While Implementing trauma invested practices that support social-emotional learning and self-regulation in the classroom. This individual needs to be able to provide a safe environment that includes active supervision of all children under their care. The Assistant Teacher works under supervision of the Lead Teacher but can perform most tasks independently.

Salary & Benefit information

The hiring range for this role is $19.69-$21.29 per hour. The full salary range of $19.69-$32.78 per hour represents the low and high end of the total salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to experience & qualifications. After the successful completion of our six-month training period, you will receive a 4% step increase.  As a regular employee, you may receive an additional 4% step increase on your annual anniversary with RRCA. Duties & Responsibilities

An Assistant Teacher will need knowledge of child development and educational component of a preschool program, adult learning theory and social service practices/resources, program policies and procedures and federal, state, and local regulations governing the program. The qualities we are looking for include the ability to use positive verbal communication skills with children and adults, establish effective relationships with enrolled children, families, and the community, and establish professional relationships with co-workers in a team environment.

Education, Skills, and Abilities

Assistant Teacher Level 1:

High school diploma or GED and 6 months to 1 year experience with preschool or kindergarten aged children in an educational setting and must have one of the following:

  • A current Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential or be enrolled in a CDA credential program to be completed within two years of hire.

Or

  • Have an ECE State Certificate (12 Credits) or be enrolled in an ECE State Certificate program to be completed within two years of hire.

Assistant Teacher Level 2:

High school diploma or GED and two years experience with preschool or kindergarten aged children in an educational setting and have an Associate Degree or higher with 12 credits in Early Childhood Education, as documented in MERIT.
