Summary
Rural Resources Community Action is looking for a Housing Eligibility Specialist, this position is full-time (40 hours per week) with benefits and located at our Colville, WA office. An Eligibility Specialist will work under the direct supervision of the Section 8 & TBRA Program Manager, the Eligibility Specialist performs a variety of essential day-to-day functions associated with the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) and/or TBRA Program which includes interviews of applicants and participants, conduct briefings and orientations, executes housing assistance payment contracts and other related documents, assures accurate and timely housing assistant payments, and maintains a caseload for rental subsidy determinations.
Salary & Benefit information
The hiring range for this role is $19.87-$21.49 per hour. The full salary range of $19.87-$33.08 per hour represents the low and high end of the total salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to experience & qualifications. After the successful completion of our six-month training period, you will receive a 4% step increase. As a regular employee, you may receive an additional 4% step increase on your annual anniversary with RRCA. Duties & Responsibilities
A Housing Eligibility Specialist will need thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local policies, procedures, and regulations applicable to area of assignment, including Housing Choice Voucher regulations, Washington State Landlord-Tenant Law, State and Federal Fair Housing Laws, Tenant Based Rental Assistance (TBRA) Program. This position will also require knowledge of various computer systems and programs, data entry and database interactions, Microsoft Office products, and spread sheeting programs, and eligibility criteria for rental assistance programs.
The qualities we are looking for include the ability to analyze and evaluate client needs, develop and implement corrective action to resolve problems, remain calm, open-minded, helpful, tactful, and professional under stressful and emotionally charged conditions, work independently with limited supervision, remain flexible, and exercise sound judgment, and effectively communicate program rules and regulations to participants, property owners/managers and the greater community.
Education, Skills, and Abilities
To apply for this position, you would need an Associate’s degree; two years administrative experience; three years of experience in a housing or social service agency; and two years computer data entry experience; or any combination of education and experience which would provide the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge and ability required to perform the job.
