Affordable Housing
A comfortable and safe place to live. It’s something most of us take for granted. But the truth is, many of us know someone who might someday need shelter from one of life’s storms, big or small.
Rural Resources is here to help with many housing and home maintenance needs. And if we don’t have the specific program or service that can help someone weather their storms, we can guide them to the place that can. We are committed to ensuring that all residents of Northeast Washington have a safe, reliable and affordable place to live.
Eviction Rent Assistance Program (ERAP) is available to participants that live in Stevens, Ferry and Lincoln County. If your rent or utilities are past due, we may be able to help. This rental assistance program is currently operational per Governor Inslee’s recently signed Proclamation 21-09. For more information on this program, please call 509-685-6101 and leave a voicemail with your contact information.
Notice of Waiting List Closure for the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) Program
As of November 30, 2022, at 5:00 p.m., the Spokane Housing Authority (SHA) and Rural Resources Community Action (RRCA) will be closing the Housing Choice Voucher Program (aka Section 8/HUD) waiting list for the North Counties (Stevens, Pend Oreille, Lincoln) Wait List and Ferry County Wait List to all new applicants.
SHA & RRCA does not take this action lightly and recognizes the tremendous need for affordable housing in our area. In compliance with Federal code 24 CFR 982.206, and as recommended by the Housing Choice Voucher Program Guidebook, the SHA & RRCA has determined that the wait for housing for new applicants has become unreasonable and has decided to close this waiting list until such time that the waiting time for available housing is no longer than 12-24 months from the time of application.
For those who are currently without housing, please contact RRCA and inquire about the TBRA Program OR Emergency Housing Services at 509-684-8421.
