SALARY RANGE: Hiring Range: $19.69-$21.29 per hour

Summary

Rural Resources Community Action is looking for a Smart Start Learning Center Assistant Teacher. This position is full-time 40 hours per week with benefits and will have a 9:30-6:00pm work schedule. As a Smart Start Assistant Teacher, you will work with toddlers, preschool and school age children. You will assist the Center Manager and Lead Teacher in planning, organizing, and conducting activities in the classroom to provide a quality experience for children and to assist with the preparation of the classroom, including materials and planned activities. Implement trauma-invested practices that support social-emotional learning and self-regulation in the classroom. An Assistant Teacher is able to provide a safe environment that includes active supervision of all children under their care. The Assistant Teacher works under the supervision of the Center Manager/Lead Teacher but is able to perform most tasks independently.

Salary & Benefit information

The hiring range for this role is $19.69-$21.29 per hour. The full salary range of $19.69-$32.78 per hour represents the low and high end of the total salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to experience & qualifications. After the successful completion of our six-month training period, you will receive a 4% step increase.  As a regular employee, you may receive an additional 4% step increase on your annual anniversary with RRCA. Duties & Responsibilities

A Smart Start Assistant Teacher will need knowledge of child development and the educational components of an early childhood and school-age program, adult learning theory and social service practices and resources, and basic knowledge of program policies and procedures and federal, state, and local regulations governing the program. This individual will also need the ability to use positive verbal communication skills with children and adults, establish effective relationships with enrolled children, families, and the community, and proficient communication skills oral and written.

Education, Skills, and Abilities

To apply for this position, you would need a High School Diploma or GED and 6 months to 1 year experience with children in an educational setting.  And must have one of the following: A current Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or be enrolled in a CDA credential program to be completed within two years of hire. Or have an ECE State Certificate (12 credits) or equivalent or be enrolled in an ECE State Certificate program to be completed within two years of hire.
